Let's Get Acquainted...

I’m Gemma - a BABCP-accredited Cognitive Behavioural Therapist with a genuine passion for helping people create meaningful, lasting change.

Over the years, I’ve supported clients through challenges such as anxiety, low self-esteem, trauma, insomnia, and the emotional impact of long-term health conditions. But what matters most to me is understanding your story - and working together to create the change that feels right for you.

I’m based in the South East of England, where I live with my husband and our lively Australian Cattle Dog, Roo.

Clients often describe me as approachable, down-to-earth, and genuinely caring. I’m deeply committed to the people I work with and aim to create a warm, supportive space where you can feel truly seen and heard. I also bring a gentle sense of humour into sessions - because sometimes, a shared laugh can be just as powerful as the work itself.

Whether you’re going through a difficult period, feeling stuck in unhelpful patterns, or simply want to understand yourself better, I’m here to support you - every step of the way.

My Background and Experience

Over the past 10 years, I’ve had the privilege of working across a range of health, education, and mental health settings - experiences that have shaped who I am as a therapist today.

I’ve supported children with special educational needs, worked with young people and families through the cleft lip and palate service, and helped adults recovering from burn injuries. Each of these roles deepened my understanding of how our emotional wellbeing is connected to every part of life - our bodies, relationships, and sense of self.

Since 2019, I’ve worked within NHS Talking Therapies as a CBT therapist, supporting people through anxiety, low mood, panic, stress, and other challenges that can sometimes feel overwhelming - including recovering from abusive relationships, managing the effects of trauma and PTSD, coping with prolonged grief, addressing generational trauma, navigating long-term health conditions, and developing assertive boundaries.

Alongside my clinical work, I’m committed to ongoing professional development, regularly undertaking specialist training in areas such as perfectionism, ADHD and autism, menopause, compassion-focused therapy, sensory loss, and insomnia.

These experiences have shaped me into a therapist who is flexible, empathetic, and ready to meet you wherever you are in your journey.

My Qualifications

I’m a fully qualified and BABCP Accredited Cognitive Behavioural Therapist with the following academic background:

BSc (Hons) Psychology – The Open University

Postgraduate Certificate (PGCert) in Low Intensity CBT – University of Essex

Postgraduate Diploma (PGDip) in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy – University of East Anglia

These qualifications have provided me with a strong foundation in evidence-based practice, which I continue to build on through ongoing professional development and reflective practice.
